Family Potted Herb and Container Veggie Gardening 101 Workshop

Get your hands dirty (or don’t—gardening gloves are always provided!) as you pot up an herb to take home and enjoy on your patio, balcony, or backyard. A selection of herbs will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Have garden dreams for next year? Bring photos, sketches, or measurements of spaces you’d like to transform, and we’ll provide on-the-spot advice and tips to help bring your vision to life—from plant selection and placement to soil choices and container design.
Sunday, July 26th 9:30 a.m.- 11:30 a.m.
Pre-registration is required.
During this drop-in workshop, participants will:
- Learn the basics of growing herbs and vegetables in containers, including plant selection, soil needs, and simple care tips
- Pot up an herb to take home and enjoy on a patio, balcony, or backyard garden
- Explore creative ideas for small-space gardening and ways to make the most of available growing areas
- Receive personalized gardening tips and advice by sharing photos, measurements, or ideas for future garden spaces
- Connect with other garden enthusiasts and celebrate the joy of growing your own food
This is a drop-in event, so arrive whenever works best for your schedule. Please allow approximately 30-45+ minutes to complete the activity.
Location
Please park in the main parking lot of Five Oaks Centre (1 Bethel Road, Paris). Walk the short distance to the activity tent.
Admission
One Activity Ticket includes materials for one child to create one potted herb and advice for one family garden. This activity can be enjoyed by children ages 3-17.
Adult Supervision
Adult supervision is required for this event.
If more than one adult will be accompanying a child, please consider making a site-access donation to support the nonprofit venue. Site-access donations help maintain the property and community programs and are required to access other areas of the property before or after the event.
